Matzikama

September 2018

We headed into the wildreness of Matzikama and Kamiesberg for a weekend exploring on the bikes along the borders of the Northern and Western cape. Hot days, nights under the stars and plenty of small dusty roads!

First stop, Bagdad Cafe along the R27, to get the trip started with a curry mince pancake... known locally as pannekoek.

Unsure of how much water we’d find on the next section, we popped back to Kliprand to stock up.

With temperatures reaching 40ºc, Scotties carb issues gave us a good excuse to hide under some shade.

We trailered the bikes up to Vanrhynsdorp then made our way north along the Bokkeveld escarpment towards Kliprand. We then headed west towards Garies before making our way back to Vanrhynsdorp.
